An adopted 15 year old was arrested on murder charges after police found the bodies of his parents stashed under a blanket inside the family car. On Friday, police went to the house located in Oakland, California twice to check on 55 year old Robert Kamin and 50 year old Susan Poff after their employers reported that they didn’t show up for work.
Their cause of death is still unavailable as the autopsies have yet to be completed. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the boy was adopted within the last ten years, perhaps suggesting that his aggressive nature may be due to his insecure attachment. Studies have shown that it is ideal for children to be adopted before the age of 4 in order for them to have a secure attachment with their adopted parents.
Mr Kamin was a clinical psychologist in the San Francisco County jail system and Mrs Poff worked as a physician assistant at the Housing and Urban Health Clinic for the city’s health department. Police state that the couple’s son killed them on Thursday and then hid their bodies underneath a blanket in his parent’s PT Cruiser outside. Initially the boy was said to have denied any involvement but later confessed to authorities, according to the Chronicle.
