Chiddy Bang is an alternative hip hop duo from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are known worldwide for their smash hit “Opposite of Adults”, which samples MGMT’s “KIDS”. What many people don’t know however, is both these talented boys’ backgrounds. 

Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege is the MC (rapper/frontman) of the group. He originates from Nigeria, something which he addresses on their track “Sooner or Later”, where he says “yes I am guilty of being privileged, ‘cause while I’m in the booth my cousin is in the village”. When chiddy was younger he also had some acid thrown into his face, leaving him with scars on the sides of his face where the skin has repaired. He doesn’t let this affect him though, with him dropping bars like “I do this for my little brother Lyvonte, b**** my flow Picante and this is just the entree” (I can’t stop freestyle). Chiddy also holds the Guinness World Record for Longest Freestle Rap by rapping for 9 hours and 18 minutes. 

Noah “Xaphoon Jones” Beresin is the producer/DJ of the group. He started making beats on his laptop in Grade 10 and knows how to play a variety of instruments, including the drums. His ability to fuse hip hop and alternative samples such as MGMT, Passion Pit and Radiohead, enables Chiddy Bang to have their own little genre in hip hop, appealing to all sorts of fans. Xaphoon has released 2 self-titled mixtapes of remixes and mashups, which range from Bob Marley and MGMT to Passion Pit, Notorious B.I.G and Beyonce. 

They both attended Drexel University in Noah’s hometown of Philedelphia, PA. They were introduced through former band member Zachary Sewall in late 2008 during their freshman year. Chiddy had been freestyling often at parties and open mic nights whilst Xaphoon remained making beats. This is a truly lethal partnership which will surely reach great success. Their album Breakfast is out on the 28th February in the US and the 5th March in the UK.
