Recent X Factor reject Janet Devlin has lashed out at the show, claiming that it turned her into a karaoke singer, as she covered songs every week. Devlin was voted off of the ITV show Sunday evening, with Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa all preferring Misha B to the Irish teenager.  Their Mentor Kelly Rowland exclaimed that the decision was too hard as she “loves both these girls”, and therefore refused to vote.

Devlin claims that had she been a puppet and done exactly what the show had asked of her, she would have gone further in the competition. The Irish singer certainly had a unique voice, although has been criticized for not being diverse enough and predictable.

Portrayed as a shy, quiet girl on the show, this certainly seems to contradict that opinion. It makes one wonder whether or not she was acting on camera in an attempt to gain more votes and whether or not she’s watched the X Factor before, as it has always involved contestants covering famous songs.
