What has the Royal Wedding done for unity?

On 29th April, 2011 a fanfare led television viewers into the national anthem. We had already been fired up by the song  “Jerusalem.”

The country had become puff – chested patriots.  The Royal family did what they do best – put on the greatest show on earth watched by almost a third of the world. When Catherine Middleton said “I will”, the Diana story finally attained its happy ending. Britain had made peace with its past.

The newly minted Duchess of Cambridge is what the monarchy needs: an infusion of new, decidedly not blue, blood.  Young, beautiful and middle – class, the Duchess of Cambridge will revivify the Royal family.

From the cool – hand of The Duchess of Cambridge, to Phillipa Middleton, the Middletons imposed their stamp on the biggest royal wedding for thirty years. Phillipa Middleton is the subject of a huge following on Facebook concerning her derriere.

The British fashion industry was provided with a much needed rise in popularity because of the television coverage. It is predicted that the fashion house of Alexander McQueen will see their fashion designs worm by movie actresses at the next presentation ceremony of the Oscars.

The Verger, who did a cartwheel on television had the support of Westminster Abbey. The clip has been shown on YouTube over 70,000 times.

If the late Princess Diana, described the current Duke of Cambridge as being her ‘”anchor” and  the Duke of Cambridge described the new Duchess of Cambridge as being his “rock”, the marriage which has turned the Duchess of Cambridge into a global icon, has received overwhelming approval from the British public.
