The postman worked in England and he was in fear of the illegal lender arriving at his door and beat him up if he missed a weekly payment.

He took three jobs to repay the loan.

His tormentor was eventually imprisoned for his loan shark activities. Loan sharking on Britain's social housing estates, where an estimated 310,000 households are in debt to illegal money lenders, has been made a priority by the Government, which is launching an experimental centralised enforcement body next month to combat the problem.
