Good Morning Everyone;

Greetings from the home of Anne of Green Gables, Prince Edward Island , Canada.

Lucy Maude Montgomery , the author of the Anne of Green Gables books wrote her books on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Prince Edward Island is Canada's smallest Province having a population of only 140,000 people. The capital city ,Charlottetown, has a population of 40,000 people.

The Island is 110 miles long and 40 miles wide.  Beaches abound and the climate is warmed by the Gulf Stream in the nearby Gulf of St. Lawrence. The Island is off the coast of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

The economy of Prince Edward Island is dependent on farming, fishing and tourism.

In the summer months the population of the Island doubles because of the number of tourists who arrive by  car or plane each day.

Lobster are fished in the Northumberland Straight and Blue Fin Tuna . Both types of fish are shipped overseas.

In the wintertime , ice hockey is a passion here.  Many communities deem themselves to be "Hockeyville".

Soccer, baseball, golf and tennis are played in the summer. There are over 30 golf courses on the Island and many sets of golf clubs arrive at Charlottetown Airport each summer's day !  Many golfing widows arrive who must go to the beach !

Canada was founded in Charlottetown , the Birthplace of Canada. The various Dominions met in Charlottetown in 1867 and formed the country of Canada.

The Charlottetown Summer festival has live theatre all summer and the musical " Anne of Green Gables  is the number one selling play at the Confederation Centre of the Arts.

The Japanese tourists have a keen interest in the Anne of Green Gables books and enjoy coming to the Island and seeing the play.

Over 40 cruise ships are expected in Charlottetown harbour next summer.

"Old Home Week" is held in August and Islanders who live "away", off the Island , come home to see family at that time.

Because the beaches are first class, Islanders stay on the Island in  the summer and have their annual holidays in warmer climates during the Canadian winter.  Islanders will fly to mexico, Florida, Bermuda and Cuba as " Snow Birds".

You should make a point of visiting Prince Edward Island on your next holiday. The Island people are very hospitable and will make you most welcome.

The Canadian Men's Olympic Hockey Team was finalised this morning with some controversial decisions being made. Some well informed hockey fans were disappointed at some of their favourite talented players being cut from the team.

Even Jay Bouwmeester, a Calgary Flames defenseman, was cut from the squad when most fans believed him to be a definite selection. His Calgary teammate and fellow defenseman, Dion Phaneuf was also cut from the team.

Maybe the most surprising decision of all was that Vincent Lecavalier was also dropped from the team and he has won a stanley cup, uses his size to his advantage and is one of Don Cherry's favourite players.

You can find Team Canada's full roster on their website:

http://www.hockeycanada.ca/index.php/ci_id/69669/la_id/1.htm

Many ice hockey fans believe that Team Canada are going to win the Gold Medal at the Olympics however, Alexander Ovechkin and Iiya Kovalchuk will be playing for the Russian Team who will give them a good run for their money!

As you can see below, Ovechkin is a phenomenal ice hockey player.

I am a member of ecademy.com and saw her book advertised on the ecademy website.

Thomas and Penny Power set up ecademy in 1998 and through their sacrifices  and efforts, ecademy has become one of the best web sites for business people to connect across the world and help them to connect support and adapt to a changing world.

The European Commission has approved a restructuring and impaired asset relief scheme for the Royal Bank of Scotland, saying the measures fell within state aid rules.

The Commission said the restructuring proposals should create a sustainable future for the bank, one of the largest financial services groups.

Among the measures the bank is taking is a commitment to divest from all non - core and riskier business lines, including its insurance, transaction management and commodity trading operations, moves that will free resources for core banking.

The planned strikes by British Airways staff is aimed at doing the most disruption as possible at Christmas. Londoners were beginning to leave tonight for warmer climates and then to hear this news.

The strike vote was supposedly supported by ninety two percent of those who did vote.

The strike will cause financial losses to British  Airways at a time when the airline is losing money.

There seems to be a trend amongst the staff to go on strike, when to do so might bankrupt their employer.

Abu Dhabi yesterday gave Dubai a lifeline.

The bailout follows last month's news that the state owned investment conglomerate Dubai World could not repay its debts.

Many people will know that the seven star hotels and artificial islands as the symbol of Dubai's fame and wealth.
Las Vegas is  known for its casinos and Dubai for its opulence.

Dubai World last month asked for a standstill on debt sending financial markets into panic mode.

After the Abu Dhabi $10 Billion payment, global stock markets soared.

The funds will cover a $4.1 Billion Islamic bond on Dubai World property unit Nakheel was due to pay yesterday.

Nakheel, the developer behind The Palm and The World  developments off the Dubai coast , has accumulated huge debts during a five - year property boom in Dubai.

Despite the money paid, this might only last until April 2010.  Dubai World could still collapse if it cannot negotiate an agreement with its creditors on the rest of its debts.

Can the Dubai government continue to provide the necessary financial support to cover working capital and interest expenses to ensure  the continuity of key money intensive projects is the question going into May of 2010?

The Baghdad government are planning to move a refugee camp housing political refugees.

Camp Ashraf is to be moved to the desert south.

The removal of the refugees could put them at risk of arrest, torture or other forms of illegal treatment and killing.
